Characteristics of pietersite
Pietersite (tiger's eye, hawk's eye) is an unusual and very beautiful gemstone.
Pietersite is a type of mineral called "tiger's eye", and a rather rare variety. Pietersite differs from other tiger eyes in a special silky overflow of stone.
Pietersite got its name in honor of the discoverer Sid Pieters.
For a long time, pietersites were mined only in a single place - in the mines of Namibia. But this country has imposed an embargo (export ban) on all tiger's eye stones mined here. Therefore, pietersite was a very expensive gemstone. And it was very difficult to buy it because of the rarity. However, by the end of the 20th century, China began to supply the world gemstone market with the finest gold and blue pietersites. Chinese pietersites even got their own separate names - "hawk's eye".
So now the prices for pietersites are not very high, but the gemstone itself has not become less beautiful, and many people willingly purchase jewelry with unusual and beautiful pietersites.
